About this trip

Australia’s unique allure is boundless. Its mystical splendor emanates from the timeless land and sea, dynamic scenery and majestic wildlife, captivating flavors and enchanting culture. A giant island afloat in the Great Southern Ocean, cut off from the rest of the world for millennia, this most ancient of continents has long hidden its startling beauty and remarkable native wildlife from the rest of the world. Inhabited by Aboriginal people who have coexisted with the land for more than 40,000 years, it was into this pristine wilderness that the British first arrived in 1788, and for the next 100 years, this beguiling land remained the haunt of convicts, explorers and spirited free settlers, who along with growing bands of intrepid gold-miners, pearlers, farmers and traders, forged an Australian spirit that is characterized by independence, irreverence, and a good dose of humor. Today, Australia dazzles with its contrasting landscapes and its extraordinary diversity. This vast, pristine land is affluent, sophisticated, multicultural and laced with natural splendor: from tropical rain forests to fiery red deserts in the vast Outback, from scenic vineyards, producing excellent Cabarnet Sauvignon and Shiraz to gleaming modern and funky cities, and from idyllic underwater paradise of the Great Barrier Reef to the Aboriginal culture and art.

The trip was amazing. Food and entertainment were fabulous. Riverdance and the storyteller were a great addition but I would include on further Ireland tours more Irish music. It's such a huge part of their heritage. I also loved the lamb farm and the sheepherding. In addition, Marina is fabulous. Best guide ever!

Ireland was beautiful! Our travel guide, Marina, was thoughtful, organized, funny and so well prepared for this tour. Amazing job! I’ve found Sights and Soul to be top notch in planning, itinerary, and selections of hotels, restaurants, daily tours. I hope to be able in the future to once again join in on another fabulous adventure!

The trip to Ireland was the first time I traveled with S&S and I truly enjoyed it. Although the group met as strangers, it didn't take a long time for us to become great traveling companions. The itinerary included sites that I don't think I have seen on other trip descriptions - Powerscourt Manor and Gardens and Mucross House and Gardens in Killarney National Park. The stay at the Dunlop Castle Hotel & Resort was very relaxing. Our tour director, Marina, was incredible. She managed our time well without taking away from our experiences. It was a pleasure getting to know her and the work she does with S&S.

We had a great experience in Ireland. Our guide was a good leader and was flexible to add experiences and adjust based on schedules. There was only one day that was not well planned and that was the day at the Cliffs of Moehr. The bus was an hour late getting there so we only had an hour to spend at the cliffs. With that being a highlight of the trip and good weather, I would have liked to spend several hours there. I would also say "less ruins and cemetary visits" and more nature visits. I would have liked to spend more time in Dingle and we could have also taken a nice boat ride there. Kerry Cliffs visit would have been nice as well. Loved Dublin and the hotel stay in Dunmore.

Dear Barbara, Thank you for your review and your suggestions; we are always looking for ways to improve future tours. The road construction on the Cliffs of Moher day did gum up the schedule, but we are happy that the weather cooperated for your group; we like to arrange that when we can. We hope to welcome you on another Sights and Soul tour in the future.

I recently finished the South Africa, Zimbabwe,, Botswana trip in December, 2024. It was a trip of a lifetime. I have traveled on many international trips with Sights and Soul (as well as several other tour groups so I have a comparison) and they consistently have an itinerary that visits the major points of interest in a region. Days are full, transportation is efficient, local tour guides are well informed and very open to sharing the history and culture of their country with visitors. Kerry was our tour guide , and one reason that I chose this tour was that I had previously traveled with her to Viet Nam. She is calm, gracious and experienced. Two of the ladies experienced acute illness, and she arranged discrete treatment from local physicians. Flights on one leg of the tour were cancelled because of strikes by the ground crew in Johannesburg. Kerry and our South African tour guide got us rescheduled on another airline later in the day so that we would not miss any part of the safari experience, which is the highlight of this trip. She arranged for us to wait in an airport lounge area with free food and drinks. Sights and Soul Travel is a tightly run organization that does everything possible to make their trips run smoothly. Kerry is a credit to this company and is the type of experienced tour guide that can manage the challenges of supervising a group through the joy and excitement, but also the stressful situations that arise with international travel.
